We all go through this turning point in our lives that makes us selfish or realize what we truly want, and one-day we just put our foot down and become selfish. Not in a bad way, but a self-caring way. Selfish enough to put ourselves first, which we all need to do. Whether it’s a realization at 25 or 45, the sooner, the better, but only life experiences will get you there. It can be a toxic relationship, a few bad friendships, a family-feud, whatever hard time it is, it will help you grow and have self-realizations of what you need.
Be selfish. Treat yourself. Stay in on a Saturday night. Get your hair and nails done. Buy a few new pieces for your wardrobe. Get a donut. Go for a run. Book that trip alone and reflect and collect yourself again. Indulge in an activity or something you’ve always wanted to try. Skip the expensive outing with your friends if you don’t want to go. Don’t ever feel like anyone has control over you or you’re obligated to do something you don’t want to do, that’s where you pull yourself into a hurricane of toxicity.
It’s okay to have your cake and eat it too. Otherwise, why the hell do we work so damn hard to get it in the first place, right?
Treat yourself, because you damned-well deserve it.
